Sometimes, the winter’s cold can keep us staying wrapped up in cozy blankets indoors. But when cabin fever hits, having a host of family-friendly activities to choose from comes in handy. Check out these four winter activities to do across Gaston County.
Take a Stroll through Christmas Town USA – McAdenville
A Christmas in McAdenville is like no other. This charming town leaves no bulb or wreath behind when preparing for the season. Home to some of the most stunning holiday lights in the country, the town attracts more than 600,000 people annually from both near and far to see its displays. Grab some hot chocolate, bundle up the little ones, and go see what all the hype is about.
Visit Santa and Mrs. Claus at Holidays at The Garden – Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden, Belmont
As stunning a place that Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden is already, it’s adding a little holiday spirit and a whole lot of lights to become quite the irresistible location to bring the family to. Holidays at the Gardens is open from November 23rd to January 6th (excluding Christmas Day). In addition to featuring regular visits from and photo ops with Santa and Mrs. Claus, DSBG invites you to come out and enjoy nightly live music, a warm fire, beautiful scenery and much, much more.
Make a fun afternoon out of picking out the family Christmas tree this year. This family-run farm pulls out all the stops during holiday season. You can choose to cut your own tree down or select from a pre-cut batch. Your family will have a blast strolling through the beautiful pines with a hot drink in hand. Hayrides, ornament making, and marshmallow roasting are all staples to expect. Be sure to check out the farm animals too–they will make for some fun pictures.
“Chute down” the slopes at Crowders Ridge – Gastonia
